Tip 54: State of Catastrophe in Chile / Catástrofe no Chile

After Haiti's earthquake, another one is motive of worry and lamentation in South America. The catastrophe was in Chile and killed at least 300 people on Saturday morning. Most part of them were killed in their homes. Check the following link and see a reportage of it.

Tip 47: Carnival / Carnaval

Dear UESCenglishQUEST users,

A very exciting holiday in our country is carnival whereby we are recognized and remembered abroad. Carnival is a very beautiful party, and it is celebrated in different ways. For example the "frevo" in Recife, Salvador's carnival in Bahia and the samba schools' parade (" desfile das escolas de samba") in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

Um feriado muito interessante no nosso país é o carnaval. Pelo qual somos reconhecidos e lembrados lá fora. Esta é uma festa muito bonita e é comemorada em diversas formas, como por exemplo, o frevo em Recife, o carnaval de Salvador na Bahia e no desfile das escolas de samba no Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo.

The Winter Olimpic Games in Vancouver is showing us the beauty of the winter sports and also a little bit of the Canadian culture and people. It has been very interesting for us to see these games that are so different from those we are familiarized with. Here go two links regarding the Winter Olimpic Games. The first one is the opening cerimony and the other one shows the Canadian pride that has surged with this event.
